We've enjoyed watching our stunning poppies grow and bloom
And as the petals began to drop and the seedpods dried out....
An idea came about *smile*
We collected small ones, big ones and all sizes in between...
Pulled out some lovely brown paper and dolloped paint in an egg carton
And got to painting *smile*
Seeds flew everywhere, rolling across our paper!
Before landing in lovely splotches of colour...
...where they waited to dry
Beautiful!
Happy painting,
Kelly
The concentration of your son shows how involved and interested he was in the activity. This might be a fun activity to do with our Dahlia heads :)
ReplyDeleteThe poppy seed pods are so lovely, and what a gorgeous idea!
ReplyDeleteLovely :) These organic ideas are almost always the best. Keep it simple and let the kids do the rest. Thanks for sharing :)
ReplyDeleteLove this. Poppy heads are brilliant for toddlers aren't they? - at least under superversion :-). We've had so much fun opening them up before they've dried to see all the white seeds, and the amazing seed structure, shaking them when they're dry and inspecting which ones have opened up the top and are ready to throw their seeds to the wind.
ReplyDeleteI have to be honest and say I've never seen a poppy pod in real life. What environments do they need to grow? Great post and so beautifully written. Thanks.
ReplyDeleteWhat a simple but beautiful idea! They turned out lovely.
ReplyDeleteThey look fantastic! We just did some seed pod painting as well but never thought of poppies! They look like they were having lots of fun!

ReplyDeleteWhat gorgeous fun, this has inspired me to use up the baby pine cones (or whatever they are!) that I've seen in our back yard. They're tiny and round and I've been wondering what to do with them.
ReplyDeleteThey turned out great!
ReplyDeleteI love using different things to paint with, such freedom.
I love this! What wonderful little prints they make!!
ReplyDeleteWhat a gorgeous idea! I love finding new things to paint with and I love how the seeds were sprinkled through out the painting.
