Sometimes things come along just when they are needed...
And this certainly seemed to be the case the other day
Dino Boy had hurt his toe rather badly
And by the time I returned home after work he was rather miserable and hurting
{my poor little chook, luckily he is on the mend now!}
But it just so happened that a parcel had arrived that day
...a lovely parcel from children's author, Kathy Parra
Her lovely book...
So Dino Boy and I snuggled down together to read
As we read the story, turning the beautiful pages
{made from eco friendly paper}
Dino Boy calmed and was captured by the sweet story
A story of a girl named Willow
who could not see with her eyes... but learnt to see through her other senses
"Mama," Willow asked, "why is the Earth so quiet?"
"Earth is quiet so that we can hear Nature speak to us" she said.
This beautiful story is wonderfully illustrated by Candace Keach
Mama said, "The willow tree has green leaves. The wind sways them back and forth."
I felt the leaves brush gently against my face and the leaves slip through my fingers.
"Mama, Nature is speaking to me! Green feels gentle."

And the WINNER is..... {following a 'redraw'} Valerii
Rainbows are certainly rare and wonderful, but to me, the memory of seeing a double rainbow while working in the fields, changing irrigation pipes with my Grandmother, is the first thought that always comes to mind. It was one of those ahhhhh moments that is frozen in my mind complete with the scents of alfalfa, river bank, sagebrush, rain, and my Grandmothers wool coat.
Congratulations!
Valerii please get in touch by Friday at 5pm EST ~ happywhimsicalhearts@iinet.net.au
{if I have not heard from our winner, I will ask Dino Boy for his next favourite comment}

A Rainbow is LOVE, is IS free <3
My 4 y.o. loves to tell everyone at the moment who asks if her favourite colour is Pink or Purple etc...(and even if she isn't asked...hehe)..."No", she says rather shortly, then in a really sweet voice "I love all the colours of the rainbow!"
ReplyDeleteRainbows mean the promise of love to me. A promise of a brighter future and if today is not very good, me and my 4 yr old son can find the rainbow and know that the yucky wont last forever!

ReplyDeleteOur daughter Millicent is our rainbow babe as she came to us the first moon cycle after losing our other baby. We will be having a rainbow 1st birthday party for her in June. She is our little rainbow xxx
ReplyDeleteDear Dino boy,
ReplyDeleteMy name is Miss Possum and I love rainbows. I asked my mum last week what love is and it seems like it's a hard thing to explain. Love just is... rainbows! I would love to win this book because I love the front cover and also my mummy has red hair like the girl in the other pages. It sounds like a lovely story.
I hope your toe is better,
Love Miss Possum
My children wear the colours of the rainbow - most often all at the same time - with their hearts full of love, fun and smiles.
ReplyDeleteMy 'Little Pip' sends rainbows to people, from his heart to theirs. To let them know he loves them and is thinking about them, when they're not there.
So rainbows - are my children and the joy they bring.
With love, Aleta x
Oh that looks like such a beautiful book. I can see why it had such a calming effect on your Dino boy.
ReplyDeleteJust pinned to Pinterest. Thank you for your enticing summary!!! I do want this book. Lovely art and a story to help youngsters learn about what it feels like to be a little different. Years ago, I read a book to my students titled "Through Granpa's Eyes". The story of a boy who learns to "see" the world as his blind grandfather does.
ReplyDeleteRainbows mean trying, trying new things and testing new things and making new things from old things when the old rain goes away rainbows come and signal the start of something new and bright and lovely.
ReplyDeleteWhen Goblin was only about 18 months old we went on a holiday to Wales and it rained all week. But one day we went for a walk on the beach and Goblin saw his very first rainbow. And not just a single one but a double rainbow a huge bright double rainbow stretching the length of the wet beach. He stood and stared at it for ages. Now whenever I see a rainbow I remember the wonder of new discovery. And every time it rains Goblin asks if there is a rainbow.
ReplyDeleteAll I know is that when I see a rainbow it brings a smile to my face.
ReplyDeleteRainbows are all my little girls (aged 5, 2, and 1) ask for when a facepainter comes along- it started when my middle girl (now 2) was sick in hospital (chronic illness) and a fairy came and painted rainbows on all the sick kids faces.
ReplyDeleteThey believe that rainbows make you well and if they dont ask for a rainbow they will get sick, bless them! xxx
Rainbows mean relief! They come out once the rain has ended (I think?) and when the sun comes out and it means the weather is getting better.
ReplyDeleteA rainbow means it has just rained on mum's garden, and hopefully there was no thunder or lightning to make me scared - Robert, 5
ReplyDeleterainbows means that no matter what colour we are, we are all beautiful and shine,even after a storm

ReplyDeleteRainbows, evidence that good can come from a storm.
Rainbows are the colour of dreams. Some happy, some sad, but all beautiful with hidden depths. There are daydreams and night dreams.
