Isn't it fun getting ready for a birthday!
Choosing special little presents, the cake, who to celebrate with
*smile*
We again kept to the gift giving philosophy we started using last year
❤ something they want
❤ something they need
❤ something to wear, and
❤ something to read
Our choice for something they want was these gorgeous window blocks
I love watching the kids play with loose parts
and these blocks are beautiful casting rainbows on the carpet!
{thank you for inspiring us Kate from An Everyday Story}
For something they need we knew we wanted to give her a special Waldorf doll
she is such a little mama!
I'd hoped to be able to make one for her, but time was against me
so this little baby doll was found on Etsy
For something to wear I had swapped for these magical butterfly wings
sometime ago with Andrea from Ziezo Designs
But also couldn't resist this sweet apron
perfect for a little one who loves to help bake *smile*
And since Little Miss Q and I are enjoying bedtime yoga
A new yoga book to share for something to read seemed just right!
Happy days,
Kelly
Delightful! :) I really love those window blocks - they look like such an inviting play toy! And what sweet choices for the others too! :)
ReplyDeleteThanks Bekka, it was lots of fun choosing :-)
Deleteoops. the etsy store link for the doll went to another blog. do you mind providing the etsy store name or link? many thanks!
ReplyDeleteThanks, I've fixed it up now - http://www.etsy.com/shop/LaFiabaRussa
DeleteI hope she had a very special day Kelly, it is a very exciting time to share with your little one, the gifts you chose are gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteWe enjoyed our lovely small celebration Danielle :-) Thanks so much xx
DeleteI love your philosophy. We have a very similar one. I hope miss Q has a wonderful birthday.
ReplyDeleteThanks Jackie, and I'd love to hear or read more about your philosophy :-)
DeleteThat is a great philosophy. Thanks for sharing it. I love getting ideas on how to make their days special.
ReplyDeleteMe too Dahle, so many lovely ideas out there, just to track down the ones that are right for us :-)
Deletei love your tradition. I like that it limits the number of presents so it isn't overwhelming. I like that you don't have to decide between what they want and what they need. I love that the something to wear is not a dull tshirt. And i really like the look of that yoga book, would love to hear more about it because Goblin has just discovered my yoga mat and we have been doing some yoga together but it would be so nice to read about it too. Thanks so much for linking to the Sunday Parenting Party, this is a perfect parenting post. I'm sharing on my FB and SPP pinterest board.
ReplyDeleteWonderful gifts! That doll is just adorable. I bet your little one was over the moon! :)
ReplyDeleteLovely gifts! I hope the little lady is happy with the butterfly wings.
ReplyDeleteWhat wonderful gifts!! The doll is so adorable!! I can't wait to see a picture of her in her butterfly wings. Thank you for sharing at Sharing Saturday!
ReplyDeleteI have never seen those light blocks before - I love them! On the gift list for sure! I used to live in Box Hill North, around the corner from Zart Art. Many days would see me and my pram in there - so tempting having it only five minutes walk away.
